4 Safety Tips for Your Upcoming Move
Moving is a process…It’s a long and tedious process.
Santa Ana moving company, Gold Medal Moving, have moved hundreds of families since we were established in 2012. We have seen many people put themselves in danger or overwork themselves while moving. Here are some tips to keep you safe during your move:
Stay Hydrated
This is big, especially in summer. You are moving boxes up and down stairs. You will need to continue to replenish your fluids as you sweat. Be sure to drink plenty of water or sports drinks to stay hydrated and energized.
Don’t Go Beyond Your Limit
If you know you can’t carry two boxes at a time, don’t. It is much better for you to take multiple trips than to fall and injury yourself in the process. If you start to feel shaky or light-headed, take a break and get some water and maybe a snack. If there are a lot of heavy items that you are unsure if you can carry, be sure to hire movers. We have the expertise and equipment needed to move these items safely.
Lifting Form
Execute proper form when you lift and carry heavy items. Keep your core tight and lift with your legs to prevent injury. If you are walking down the stairs, be sure that everyone involved has a secure grip on the item(s) and go slowly. It is much better to take your time than to cause an accident.
Loading the Car
Many people want to bring as much as they can with them in the car, but be careful. You don’t want to obstruct your driving view. Also, be sure to pack everything securely so you don’t have items moving around throughout the trip.
Moving can be a challenge, but it is also a great time. Take a deep breath and enjoy the journey. Don’t hesitate to ask for help.
